Privacy policy
Version 1 · Last updated 25 Oct 2026
This policy explains, in plain words, what personal data MV Hayathi ("we") collects when you book a cruise, why we use it, how long we keep it, and your rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
What we collect
- Contact details of the person who books: name, mobile number and email address.
- Guest details: name, age group (adult, child or infant), gender (optional), nationality and food preference.
- Identity details: for Indian guests only the last 4 digits of the Aadhaar number; for foreign guests passport details, stored encrypted.
- Payment results from the payment gateway. We never see or store card or UPI details.
- Messages we send you and requests you make to customer care.
Why we use it
- To make and manage your booking, issue your boarding pass and tax invoice, and check guests in at the jetty.
- To keep the passenger list that safety at sea requires.
- To send booking messages: confirmation, reminders, changes, cancellations and refunds.
- To send offers only if you agreed to receive them. You can stop them at any time.
Children
If you add children or infants to a booking, you confirm that you are their parent or lawful guardian, or that you have their parent's or guardian's consent to share their details. We use children's details only to carry them safely on the cruise. We do not track children or use their details for advertising.
How long we keep it
- Identity details: removed 30 days after the cruise.
- Message history: 365 days. Sign-in and security records: 365 days, as required for security.
- Invoices and payment records: as long as tax law requires.
- If you delete your account, your contact details are removed at once. The name on invoices already issued stays for the tax period.
Your rights
- See and download your data, correct it, and delete your account from My bookings.
- Withdraw your consent at any time. This does not affect what was done before.
- Nominate another person to use these rights for you.
- Complain to our Grievance Officer: our Grievance Officer, support@mvhayathi.in. We acknowledge complaints within 48 hours and resolve them within one month.
- If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Who we share it with
Only with the services that run the booking for us: the payment gateway, WhatsApp, SMS and email providers, our hosting provider and, if used, the identity check provider. They may use your data only for that work.
